It's About People

In February 2009, Duane and Kathy Crumb,
Paul Moelker, and Helen Tak (affiliates of NMSI based in the Center for Global
Outreach in Florida) went to Gabon, Central Africa, for an HIV
Hope project. The majority of their time
was devoted to facilitating two HIV
Hope seminars. Each week-long seminar had
about 15 participants from a variety of professional backgrounds. They were in awe
of how God moved through the seminars to transform the hearts and attitudes of
each individual. People quickly came to find that the key to HIV prevention is
not just information; it’s motivation to make healthy choices. It’s not just
fear and avoiding death; it’s hope for tomorrow and living the abundant life
that Christ came to live with us. It’s not just about HIV topics; it’s about
people!
Their time in Gabon made an impact on their lives because of the ways God showed
Himself faithful and the ways He allowed the team to join Him in His work there. They
rejoiced with two women who met Christ for the first time during a mobile clinic
village outreach. They grieved with a woman who trusted them enough to disclose her
HIV status. They performed a song and dance with Gabonese friends about HIV. They
were humbled by incredible generosity and kindness. Philomene, Jacob, Janine,
Martin, Audrey, Astrid, Michael, Albert, the Brokopps, and so many others will
be forever in their hearts.
