Hey everybody at home!
We are doing very well. It seems everyone has adjusted to the time change and is getting a full night of rest. We are becoming much more confident in our ability to find our way around the city as well.
Last Saturday we got to teach English at a local language school. We spent three hours with the advanced students and found it so refreshing to speak English to some more people our age. It was nice to learn about what it is like to be a young adult on this side of the world. We taught them some games, sang songs with them, and held an issue discussion on topics like "dating" and "human trafficking." One of the traditional American songs we sang was
Amazing Grace,
and then we had them interpret some of the words of the song. We got to explain what they meant in the context of the song. We also talked about holidays—we shared about traditions and the meaning behind Christmas, and they told us about some of their holidays.
This past Sunday we traveled to the outside of the city to a small village for their Sunday morning meeting. We were greeted by everyone shaking our hands. We each gave a testimony, Bri shared a message, and we got to sing for them as well. Although we could not understand the words of their songs, we could understand the presence of the Holy Spirit. We will be returning to that village later this week to lead a women's study and work with some children from a local orphanage.
Please be praying for James as he has traveled up north for the re-opening of a Bible College. We also ask that you pray for the travels of John, James' brother, and Dagon, the assistant pastor here at TCC, as they take a long journey to Rakhine state.
Blessings,
Team Myanmar/Thailand
